Mission Creep

AI applications are becoming part of the humanitarian tool kit for disaster response. But can the functions of an AI be clearly delineated? And according to which standards does an AI understand and judge moral dilemmas? By focusing on unintended consequences and the ethical principle of ‘first, do no harm’, this talk shed light on the injustices and colonial structures built into both AI and humanitarianism.

The talk was part of a session titled Posthuman Territories at Fiber Festival.
